47th Engine Systems Symposium

The Engine Systems Symposium is a multinational technical conference held at Cranfield University twice every year. It involves a series of presentations related to the gas turbine engine industry from an integrated point of view, creating a synergic environment between academia, industry and professional societies. The event is open to everyone and provides a unique opportunity for Continued Professional Development and networking. Running from the 1980’s till nowadays, it has become a well-respected and valuable tradition at Cranfield University. The whole congress is conducted by the MSc in Thermal Power students under the endorsement of the Centre for Propulsion Engineering, whose major objectives are the generation of ideas, the exchange between industry specialists and students, and the creation of an adequate environment for knowledge increase. Students not only prepare their papers for the Symposium, among other tasks they are also in charge of coordinating the event, marketing it externally, managing financial aspects, arranging guests' accommodation and editing the reports.

This year, the 47th Engine Systems Symposium will be held at Cranfield University on the 26th and 27th of September 2017. In this opportunity, preliminary design and integration of three major engines will be presented for aircraft propulsion and power generation purposes. For these two intense days, students will present the components they have designed, the integration process and the experiences they have acquired working in multicultural teams as well as learning from industry experts within the audience. As in previous opportunities a diverse range of audiences is expected. The guests include major gas turbine manufacturers and users, members of technical societies, publishers and any interested individuals.
